Numbness and Tingling

Numbness and tingling (a lack of feeling and a pins-and-needles sensation) are two of the earliest and most basic and common symptoms of MS, often occurring together. They are the result of the nerve damage inherent in MS, and can come in waves lasting several days at a time, frequently affecting the face, legs, feet, and hands. Though they can be mere nuisances, resulting in a lack of concentration or taste changes at worst, they can also lead to more serious issues, including loss of balance or coordination, as well as anxiety or depression if they are associated with chronic pain.

Given the fundamental causes and patterns of numbness and tingling in MS, natural approaches are those discussed for the disease as a whole, including diet and physical treatments such as acupuncture and massage.

Generally balancing homeopathic solutions may be helpful in numbness and tingling of the hands and feet, in particular the remedy Secale (a dilution of the organism Secale cornutum), of which a regular daily dose of 30C has been suggested 1.
